American Legion Post 44 Honor Guard


**The Marquette American Legion Post 44 Honor Guard is currently looking for Volunteers
We are expanding to eligible members of the Auxiliary and Sons Of The American Legion. Those who are interested and volunteer should be available mostly during the afternoon and have the ability to do some marching.
Duties
- Honor veterans at funerals
- Flag presentation
- Taps
- Participate in ceremonies on Memorial Day
- Marching in Forth of July Parade
- Flag presentation at sporting events
Eligible members will be required to purchase their own service hat and foot ware. All other parts of the uniform will be provided.

The American Legion Honor Guard is a unit that participates in military ceremonies, such as funerals and parades. The Honor Guard may include a Color Guard, Body Guard, and Firing Party.
Responsibilities
- Color Guard: Carries or presents the American or state flag at ceremonies
- Body Guard: Escorts the deceased or living person being honored, and carries the casket at funerals
Ceremony participation
The Honor Guard may participate in all aspects of a ceremony if there are no active military personnel available.
Events
The Honor Guard may participate in community activities, such as parades and ceremonies on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veteran's Day.
Purpose
The Honor Guard's primary mission is to provide military honors to veterans and their families. They present a professional and dignified presence at ceremonies to honor the veteran and their family.
